Solo & Ensemble Festival
As music teachers, we all know the importance of playing solos as well as small ensembles. If you have students who would benefit from this type of edjudicating experience, please consider joining NJMEA Solo/Small Ensemble Festival. It will be held March 28, 2009 at Kean University. Students must be in grade 5-12 and participate in their instrumental music programs. Woodwind, Brass, Percussion, and String students are eligible. Solos and Ensembles up to 12 members are possible (No Jazz Bands or Piano Soloists/Ensembles). Please note: Accompanists are required for soloists. Pianos are provided in each room. Repertoire lists for solos/ensembles may be found on the Maryland Music Educators Website: www.MMEA.com or on the JW Pepper and Sons website for any other state festival) *ONLY ONE PIECE PER ENSEMBLE PLEASE. Please also note that judges may not hear pieces in their entirety. No conductors are to be used for ensembles. If you are interested and/or would like to find out more information regarding the festival please feel free to contact me. All applications will be accepted until March 5th (without a late fee). Please encourage your students to be a part of this very rewarding experience.
